August 8, 2005: We haven't checked Snicker's weight, but we
sure think she's looking good! Snicker is anxious to get back to agility
and her daily outside exercise and playing with Meg and Kona. We've had
over 25 days of 90 degrees or higher this summer. Last summer we had
only 4. WOW, that's hot!

August 8, 2005: As reported earlier, all the puppies' eyes
are open. Their ears are also open. The puppies alert when they
hear a loud noise, hear the other dogs barking and even when we talk to them
when we're near the whelping box. The puppies have begun to play with
each other, pawing, gnawing and climbing over each other. We continue to
place different objects in the whelping box to provide lots of different
textures and shapes. Tomorrow you may see a piece of PVC pipe, and
perhaps the puppies will be able to climb inside a round plastic thermos.
Check the PuppyCam for the newest explorations.
August 13, 2005: All the puppies continue to grow.
They have all learned how to yelp, and when they all get going at the same
time, they truly do sound like a flock of seagulls. They barely fit
underneath the pig rails, but they still like to lay under them. And,
they also like to climb up on top of the rails. They are all very
comfortable with everything we've put into the whelping box, pieces of wood, PVC
pipe, fleece stuffed toys, latex toys (don't you just love those monsters!)
and the thermos. Mr. Green has a soft spot in his heart for the thermos,
we many times find him sleeping inside. We've put bubble wrap underneath
the rug, and they have no problem walking and laying on top, even though the
rug "moves" and "crinkles" when they walk. Mr. Stars escaped the
whelping box earlier today. Snicker didn't think that was such a good
idea, but she could not figure out how to get Starman back in the box.
Linda helped, and all was good again! Mr. Purple's top gums have small
nubs, teeth are soon to follow.

Do you think the world is bigger than our whelping box?
