| Snicker's water broke at 9:00pm and she began heavier labor. We were not very comfortable with the way labor was progressing. Snicker's behavior didn't seem consistent with her labor behavior in 2005. Although she as having contractions and seemed uncomfortable, there was no progression toward having a puppy. At 11:15pm Snicker still hadn't whelped any pups, so off we went to the emergency vet. The x-ray they took there showed that there was possibly a puppy whose head had progressed past the birth canal. This meant that not only was that puppy "stuck", but so was everyone behind him/her. At that time the decision was made to deliver the pups by c-section. | |

Snicker's babies arrived at 2:45am!!!
|
| The puppies and Snicker had to stay at the vet as her packed cell volume (PCV) indicating anemia needed to be increased. Linda had a chance to visit Snicker and the pups at the vet, Snicker's head popped up the minute she saw Linda. The vet had been unable to get Snicker to eat anything, but Snick gobbled up Linda's "cooking", raw is the only way to go! |
